University of Canterbury

For the past 36 years Briant’s are proud to have visited many educational facilities, we are proud that our first contract ever was for the University of Warwick, further more we are more pleased that today we still carry out works for them. Educational facilities are a key part of our business, in particular we are proud that we offer one of the safest blind systems in the country. Taking a simple vertical blind we can make almost impossible to cause damage.

With the increase of serious harm or even deaths over the past few years there has been a major focus on what can be done to make the product safer. On all of our blinds now we will install cord & chain retainers, this will reduce the risk of strangulation on the blind cords. To add to the on vertical blinds will offer you the opportunity to have the weights sewn in, this serves two benefits, in terms of safety you do not have the loops of chain where this is a risk, on a maintenance point of view, you will not have to replace the chain when it goes brittle and falls away from the blind leaving it looking untidy.

School Halls also provide a particular challenge, these generally require stage curtains and awkward curtain solutions,DSCN1675 you will see some of the photography where we have had to work at high level and where we have had to manufacture the curtains around the fire exits, all our commercial curtains are fire retardant, however, we are also conscious that your fire officers will insist that exits are kept clear from any obstructions. Our solutions are to have curtains fitted over the door areas so that you can have an elegant, yet acoustic & practical solutions.

  1. Thank you for installing the curtains and blinds in our school hall and corridors. We’re delighted with the service and the results. We still think your idea for anti-strangulation blinds was excellent
