Radisson Edwardian

Radisson Edwardian 3…it’s those finishing touches that leaves the lasting impression…

The Radisson Edwardian at the Docklands is Briant’s largest project to date. Overlooking the Thames and O2 Arena, the 4 star Radisson hosts 169 bedrooms, restaurants and bars, plus the East River Relaxation Spa & Beauty Centre. We were invited to tender, advise & assist with the design, we discovered very early on that the specified curtain fabric when put through a fire treatment would lose the main quality of the product. Working closely with a curtain fabric manufacturer we sourced a similar cloth which was inherently fire retardant, we also provided a voile to the same standard. By doing this we were able to submit a competitive quotation which met our clients needs and budget and as they were so impressed we were not only awarded the contract for the 169 bedrooms, we also supplied the whole of the front of house with curtains and blinds.

Using the Silent Gliss Wave Curtain system we produced a sample room so that the designers & client were able to see a physical sample before we started manufacturing the curtains. The project was over seen by our Director Warren Offer, he surveyed every room and ensured that where there were discrepancies within the measurements that it was catered for, thus producing a finish in each room that left the curtains hanging to the same level each time. The contemporary stylish look helped compliment the rest of the fit out within the rooms.

At the front of house we were left with many challenges, the designer had specified woven copper pelmets for the restaurant areas, these were sourced back to a designer in Denmark Annemette Beck, following several consultation with Annemette herself we worked out the best way to install the pelmets and to ship them across. The overall look was simple but very effective.

Within the relaxation spa we were to install a beaded curtains, this was to go around a 9 meter radius, we had a track produced epically and then shipped 2800 strands of beads in from the United States. Within the treatment rooms we installed sheer curtains and blackout blinds, this gave the soft sumptuous look that you would expect within this area, but also gave light control which was essential for certain treatments.

In the Banquet room this room was designed for dual purpose, the room was able to be split into two rooms allowing for multiple functions to take place. On the windows we were to install automated curtains and sheers, the curtains were to give a dimout within the room so that they could use projectors. Working with the M & E and the smartscreen specialist we were able to provide a product that would interact with their controls allowing the client to control the lights, screen and curtains all from one switch.

The River room overlooks the Thames and the 02 arena, the specificatio for this room was to provide a soft dress curtains but to have the facility of a blackout roller blind. Using the Silent Gliss electric roller blinds and curtains manufactured by our own seamstresses we delivered this eloquent yet stylish look.
